Berkshire Hathaway entered a new position in Constellation Brands, a beer and spirits-maker, in the fourth quarter of 2024. The company added 5.6 million shares of Constellation Brands, worth $1.24 billion at the end of the year. This move caused Constellation Brands’ stock to jump more than 6% in extended trading.
Berkshire Hathaway’s Top Holding: Apple
Apple remains Berkshire Hathaway’s top holding, with no changes made to its position in the last three months of 2024. The iPhone maker represents more than $75 billion, or roughly 28% of Berkshire’s portfolio.
Other Stock Holdings Changes
Berkshire Hathaway made several other changes to its stock holdings in the fourth quarter of 2024. The company bought more than 12 million shares of satellite radio provider Sirius XM and made a small addition to its stake in VeriSign Inc. Berkshire also increased its holdings in Pool Corp. by nearly 50% and Domino’s Pizza by nearly doubling its stake in the company. Additionally, Berkshire increased its stake in Occidental Petroleum by almost 8.9 million shares.
Short-Lived Positions and Exits
While Berkshire Hathaway is known for its long-term investments, it closed some short-lived positions in the fourth quarter of 2024. The company exited its position in Ulta Beauty after buying into it in the second quarter and offloading more than 96% of its shares in the third quarter. Berkshire also exited small investments in the SPDR S&P 500 ETF Trust and a Vanguard S&P 500 fund.
Reductions in Financial Sector Investments
Berkshire Hathaway reduced its holdings in several financial sector investments in the fourth quarter of 2024. The company offloaded shares in Bank of America, Citigroup, Nu Holdings, and Capital One. Additionally, Berkshire trimmed stakes in Charter Communications, T-Mobile US, and Louisiana Pacific.
